HoleyBot: The 3D-Printable STEAM Robotics Kit

Print it. Build it. Make it your own — no screws, bolts, or nuts required.

HoleyBot is a STEAM robotics kit whose structural parts are entirely 3D
printable. All you need is a 3D printer and plastic filament — schools, clubs,
and educators can produce complete kits on site instead of purchasing them
from external suppliers.

Produce It Locally

Because every structural part prints on a standard 3D printer, HoleyBot is
easy to reproduce anywhere. Local production eliminates shipping costs and the
delays of manufacturing and transportation logistics, and it empowers
educators to make as many kits as they need.

Simple, Hardware-Free Assembly

HoleyBot requires absolutely no screws, bolts, or nuts. Parts fit together
directly, keeping assembly fast and approachable for young builders.

Easy, Low-Cost Maintenance

Lost or broken part? Just reprint it. Because replacements can be printed on
demand, ongoing maintenance costs stay low and a kit never sits unused waiting
for spare parts.

Extensive and Expandable

The kit is extensive, with additional parts for building add-ons such as claws
and grippers, lifts, strikers, and launchers. Kits can also be printed in
custom colors to match the interests of each student or team.

Design Your Own Attachments

Students can create their own attachments using familiar 3D modeling software
such as Autodesk Inventor, Onshape, OpenSCAD, and Tinkercad. Working with a 3D
printer introduces students to design and fabrication at an early stage —
helping them learn to think about how their own components are designed, made,
and improved.

Sustainable by Design

HoleyBot is printed in PLA, a plastic made from renewable raw materials. Worn
or broken parts can be recycled by melting and reusing the material, and PLA
is biodegradable in industrial composting facilities.
